Visit Cypress Lawn This Summer

Since our founding in 1892, Cypress Lawn has always been a place where families can go to celebrate life — a cultural landmark that has become vital to the living legacy of San Francisco.

As our country and state begin reopening as the pandemic releases its clutches on our normalcy, you may be looking for ways to get outside and enjoy the summer in a socially distant and safe way. We hope you will consider taking the opportunity to visit our Memorial Park in Colma this summer.

As you’re about to learn through this blog, there’s a little bit of something for everyone at Cypress Lawn. Whether you want to take a walk to just enjoy a sunny day or if you’re here to pay tribute to a loved one, everyone is welcome at Cypress Lawn.

Find a Peaceful Place to Reflect

Settled at the base of the San Bruno mountains, the view of our stunning landscape is unlike anywhere else in the Bay Area. Visiting one of our campuses in Colma allows our guests to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and find a tranquil place to stay in the present moment and enjoy nature. Whether you want to visit to feed the ducks or just find a quiet place to relax under the shade of a tree, there are many reasons to visit our Memorial Park.

Admire the Impressive Architecture

Our multiple campuses are home to many iconic monuments and mausoleums that bear the honor of memorializing some of our city and state’s most notable historic figures. From thousands of square feet of magnificent stained glass to monuments and mausoleums created by noteworthy artists, there are many ways to appreciate the incredible works of art within our Memorial Park. From angels to devils to dogs, there is always something new to discover.

Take a Tour of Our Trees

Our internationally accredited Arboretum is home to over 100 species of trees and nearly 3,000 individual trees. It’s the perfect place to admire the wonder of nature and celebrate life. While we hope to begin in-person Tree Tours soon, we do have a virtual Tree Tour that is available on your phone you can use as a free guide. We hope that you can bring your virtual map with you as you walk around our Memorial Park to learn more about the gentle giants around you.

Learn More About Those Laid to Rest

From baseball legends to big-name politicians to business titans, there are people from all walks of life who have sought eternal rest at Cypress Lawn. As we wait to resume our ever-popular Trolley Tours and Lecture Series in person, we have a virtual option available to help those who are curious about the men and women who are laid to rest here. Click here to find our map showcasing where you can find some of the most notable residents of our East Campus.
