In Loving Memory of Amalia Mijares
July 10, 1929 – September 24, 2025
With heartfelt sorrow and enduring love, we announce the peaceful passing of Amalia Mijares on September 24, 2025, at the age of 96. Her long and meaningful life was marked by devotion to family, passion for education, quiet strength, and deep faith.
Amalia was born on July 10, 1929, in the Philippines to Lucio and Victorina Mijares. She was the third of eight children and the eldest daughter in a close-knit family that included her beloved siblings: Peping, Adreng, Fred, Paquito, Abet, Met, and Clarita. From a young age, Amalia carried the responsibilities of an older sister with grace and maturity, laying the foundation for a life centered on service and leadership.
Guided by her strong commitment to learning, Amalia earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education from the Philippine Women’s University. She began her teaching career at Tambo Elementary School, where she touched the lives of countless young students. Her dedication and natural leadership led to her appointment as principal of the very school where she began. Always striving to grow and contribute, she later transitioned to Arellano High School, where she continued to inspire and mentor adolescents during a pivotal time in their lives.
In search of broader opportunities, Amalia immigrated to the United States, where she embraced a new chapter with courage and resilience. She worked first as a caregiver, offering comfort and companionship to those in need, and later began a long career at Chevron Headquarters, where she served as a file clerk for over 20 years. Her colleagues knew her as diligent, kind, and quietly reliable — the kind of person who brought stability and warmth to any room.
Beyond her titles and roles, Amalia was defined by her gentle spirit, humble heart, and boundless love for her family. She lived a life rooted in purpose, integrity, and compassion for others. Her presence was reassuring, her advice wise, and her love unconditional. She found joy in life’s simple moments — preparing meals, sharing stories, offering a listening ear, or tending to those she loved without expecting anything in return.
Amalia will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and teacher. She leaves behind her sons, James and Robert, and their families: Marissa, Eva, Jameson, Matthew, Miguel, Diego, and Jade. She is also survived by her cherished siblings and many nieces, nephews, and extended relatives who were blessed by her guidance and example. She now joins in eternal rest with her parents, siblings, and loved ones who passed before her.
Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in the enduring legacy Amalia leaves behind — a legacy of faith, kindness, and quiet strength. She taught us, loved us, and lived with grace. May her memory bring peace and inspiration to all who knew her.
May she rest in eternal peace.
