Amelia “Mama Amie” De Guzman Viray was a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and kind-hearted friend to many. She was born in the Philippines in 1950 to Damaso De Guzman and Adriana Dalangin De Guzman. She was the youngest of four siblings—Lucila D.G. Rabuco, the late Celedonio D. De Guzman, and the late Romeo D. De Guzman.
In the early 1970s, Mama Amie moved to the United States with her beloved husband, Papa Jun, in pursuit of a better life for their family. Together, they worked tirelessly to build a strong and loving home. Known for her vibrant spirit and warm heart, Mama Amie brought joy to every gathering. She loved dancing, traveling, shopping, and above all, spending time with those she cherished.
Even in her later years, as she faced the challenges of a rare brain disease, Mama Amie remained strong, joyful, and deeply loved. Her resilience and unwavering devotion to her family left a legacy of strength, compassion, and love that will live on in everyone who knew her.
She is now reunited with Papa Jun in heaven. Though we miss her deeply, her light continues to shine in the lives she touched.
Mama Amie is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Audrey; her son, Jason; her son-in-law, Clint; her grandchildren, Jorel, Jianna, and Kalel; and her great-grandson, Leon.
“We love you, Mama Amie. Thank you for everything.”
