Avel Gonzales Garcia, a beloved husband, brother, uncle, cousin, colleague, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born on December 18, 1956, in Pasay City, Philippines, Avel lived a life filled with music, laughter, kindness, and love.
He was the son of Milagros and Delfin Garcia. His mother was a talented and beautiful singer, and his father was a respected lawyer and a successful businessman. Avel is preceded in death by his parents, Milagros and Delfin, and his beloved brothers Tony and Armand. He is survived by his loving wife, Belle; his brother, Albert Garcia; and sisters, Del (and Jimmy Francisco), Amor (and Stan Ordonez), and Lisa (and Brian Rancuret), as well as a loving aunt, Norma de los Angeles.
As a young boy, Avel idolized his older brother Albert, admiring his talent in music and performance, watching Albert sing and entertain inspired Avel’s passion for the arts—a passion that would later blossom in his joyful personality and musical performances. The love of music ran deep in their family, and Avel embraced it wholeheartedly.
He and his family moved to Marikina, Philippines, early on in his life. He completed his education in the Philippines, graduating from Parang Elementary School and Roosevelt College High School in Marikina. He later attended Ortanez Medical School in Quezon City. He played basketball in college, where he was the tallest, best player, and most handsome on his team, playing the forward position.
In 1978, Avel migrated to the United States at the age of 21. Here, he built a life grounded in hard work, family values, and community. He worked at Wells Fargo Bank for over 30 years with dedication, integrity, and a humble spirit, leaving behind a legacy of loyalty and service that was deeply appreciated by his managers and coworkers.
Avel’s greatest joy was his marriage to Belle Bataclan Garcia, his wife of 41 years. He cherished Belle with all his heart, treating her like a queen, always showering her with love, respect, and devotion. Avel deeply loved and cherished Belle all his life until the end.
In the late 1990s, Avel embraced a new passion as “Avelvis,” an Elvis Presley impersonator. What started as a fun hobby quickly turned into a calling. Avelvis performed at countless shows, parties, and community events—from family parties and festivals to a tribute show at Cache Creek Casino and even opening for the APO Hiking Society concert in Cincinnati, Ohio. Whether on stage or among friends, Avel brought joy, laughter, and unforgettable moments.
Avel’s life was a beautiful blend of devotion, music, laughter, and love. He brought happiness to everyone around him and will be remembered for his joyful heart, his warm presence, his commitment, his deep love for family, and the light he shared wherever he went.
He will be missed beyond words—and remembered forever, whether he is Avel, Bing, or Avelvis!

Viva Las Vegas
I knew Avel through my sister-in-law, Amor. He was the most handsome and tallest among the Garcia brothers. He was also very talented in singing, especially as an Elvis impersonator. I had known Belle before through friends and was surprised when he got married to Avel. It’s a small world, isn’t it? Avel performed at many of our family gatherings. He was my dad’s favorite performer, so he was always invited to our special occasions. The last time I saw Avelvis perform was in October 2023 at his nephew’s wedding in Las Vegas. It was after his remission from cancer, and I couldn’t believe it that he had gotten sick again. He’s still the best Elvis impersonator I’ve ever known. One time, my friend couldn’t believe it that it was his real voice. She thought all along it was lip-synching. Every time he sees me, he’ll ask me, “May ginatan ba?” He said that’s his favorite, besides my leche flan. Haha. Youll surely be missed. -
Your Little Sister
Avel was more than a brother to me—he was my guardian as we grew up together. At school and at parties, he stood out—always active, always at the center of the action, especially in sports. He was a star athlete, and I had the special role of being the muse of their basketball team. Avel always insisted that I was their team’s muse, proudly representing them wherever they played. Wherever the team went, I was there, cheering them on. In our small town of Parang, Marikina, everyone looked forward to the team’s parades and celebrated their victories together. Watching Avel play, feeling the town’s pride—it filled me with joy. I was, and always will be, a proud sister.
