Bicky Chan Lee

Bicky Chan Lee was born July 13, 1937 in Guangzhou, China to Chin Wang Doong Chin and Lan Heung Ng. She met her future husband Sunny when they were about 10-12 years old; their mothers were friends in neighboring villages.

Sunny proposed to Bicky while on leave from the United States Army. They were married in Hong Kong on December 10, 1958 after he was honorably discharged his from the army.

Bicky joined Sunny in the United States on August 30,1959. The newlyweds settled in San Francisco. They welcomed their first child, Jetson on October 16, 1959.

They initially lived on Osgood Place and eventually moved to a flat on Greenwich Street in North Beach where they welcomed their second son, Victor on February 23, 1961. They lived in the Ping Yuen apartments in Chinatown for a few years before moving to an apartment on Leavenworth Street on Russian Hill.

In 1969, Sunny and Bicky bought their home on 8th Avenue close to the  entrance of Golden Gate Park in the Richmond District. On June 10, 1971, Garson was born.

In the early years, Bicky worked as a seamstress. She and Sunny put all three of their sons through college. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, enjoyed traveling, and watching Chinese soap operas.

Bicky’s husband of almost 59 years passed in 2017 with her by his side. She is survived by her sons Jetson, Victor and Garson, her daughters-in-law Lisa, Annette and Shirley, her grandchildren Samantha, Danielle, Christopher, Abigail and Marcus, and her brother Jimmy.
