Cathy Lloyd-Butler

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Cathy Lloyd-Butler, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She entered into eternal rest on February 23, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family at her home in Burlingame.

Cathy was the devoted wife of Kemp Hickey Jr., a loving mother to Ryan Marks, and a cherished grandmother to Leona Skye Marks. She is survived by her brother Peter Butler and is reunited in God’s embrace with her late brother, Michael Butler.

Born on December 24, 1951, in San Francisco, Cathy was the daughter of Gertrude Spreckels and Shane Lloyd-Butler. She spent her early years in Hillsborough and Burlingame, attending Crocker School, Crystal Springs School for Girls, San Mateo High School, and College of San Mateo. She was known for her artistic talents, love of music, and sharp intellect.

Throughout her life, Cathy exemplified kindness, warmth, and a generous spirit. She had a deep love for collecting antique clothing buttons and was a dedicated participant in State and National Button Society exhibits. She was an accomplished artist and writer, leaving a lasting creative legacy.
Her professional life included years in Physician Office Healthcare, and in later years, she took great pride in managing her family’s historic avocado and lemon ranch in Ventura County, preserving its legacy for future generations.

Among her greatest joys were her granddaughter Leona and her beloved dog Daisy, who brought her endless happiness. Cathy’s unwavering faith, strength, and love touched countless lives, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at OUR LADY OF ANGELS Church, 1721 Hillside Drive, Burlingame, at 11:00 am Saturday, March 1, 2025. Interment will follow at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park.
