Charmaine Dangoy Cruz was born on October 26, 1982, in Manila, Philippines. She was the eldest of three children to Anselmo “Elmo” Malapitan and Eufrosina “Precy” Dangoy. As the firstborn, her family once imagined she might one day grace the stage of beauty pageants in the Philippines, but Charmaine’s life took a different, yet equally radiant, path.
At just ten years old, she emigrated to the United States to help support her family, joining her grandparents, Lorenzo and Anastascia Dangoy Cruz, in Daly City, California. She attended Westmoor High School, where she quickly built a community that would grow into a lifelong circle of friends—her chosen family. Charmaine’s vibrant, joyful, and sometimes beautifully chaotic energy filled every room she entered. You couldn’t help but feel her presence; her laughter was infectious, her heart generous, and her love boundless.
Throughout her life, Charmaine dedicated herself to serving others, both personally and professionally. She was known for stepping in during her family’s toughest moments, always ready to help and uplift those she loved. Her career in logistics with Southwest, Teledyne, and DB Control reflected her strong work ethic and integrity, which carried into her personal life. She was dependable, driven, and always willing to lend a helping hand. Of course, she made more friends along the way.
Charmaine worked hard, but she also lived life to the fullest. She found joy in simple pleasures and adventure in every corner of the world. She was a proud Bay Area sports fan, cheering on the Golden State Warriors, San Francisco Giants, and San Francisco 49ers through every triumph and heartbreak. She was also an avid traveler, both domestically and internationally, gracing her presence upon the people and places of China, Thailand, Maldives, the Philippines (Coron, Siargao, Bohol), and Japan. She was always ready for her next adventure with a smile and boundless curiosity.
On October 14, 2025, Charmaine passed away suddenly, embarking on her next great journey, one beyond this world. Her spirit lives on as a guiding light and protector to those she loved.
She is survived by her siblings, Clarence Dangoy Malapitan and Maria Cristina Malapitan Rojas, and a wide circle of friends and extended family who will forever cherish her love, laughter, and radiant energy.
Charmaine’s memory will continue to inspire those she touched, reminding us to live fully, love deeply, and laugh often.
