Corazon De Guzman Dandan April 22, 1950  – July 2, 2024

Corazon “Cora” Dandan, age 74, took the train almost every day of her working life until the tragic day she was pushed into a moving train on July 2, 2024.

She is survived by her 6 siblings Renato “Rene” Dandan, Ricardo “Carding” Dandan, Carmelita “Mely” Esguerra, Danilo “Ting” Dandan, and Reynaldo “Bitoy” Dandan, the hordes of relatives in the Bay Area and the Philippines, and a bunch of frozen dinners from the Hilton Hotel.

She is preceded by her oldest sister, Leticia “Letty” Hernandez, and her parents, Ildefonso “Ponching” Dandan, and Prudencia “Purding” Dandan.

As a highly independent woman, she graduated with a BS in Education early in life, when she was known as Ms. Dandan to her elementary school students in the Philippines.  She ultimately moved to the United States in the 80s and settled in Daly City, California, where she lived for more than 30 years. Throughout that time, she opened her home to countless family, friends, neighbors, and random strangers.

She had a firecracker personality that made her pandemic resistant.  She fed scores of neighbors without getting infected with the COVID-19 virus. Mostly thanks to her favorite pulmonologist nephew.

She loved talking. This made her a perfect fit as a hotel telephone operator, a job that she loved and did for more than 30 years until the very last day of her life.  Well, the hotel perks were also hard to resist.

She lived with a devout faith and her Christian beliefs were her guidepost for life. She partially converted her living room into a prayer room and gave her money freely to those in need. Even in death she became an instrument of change – by leaving a legacy that will help more people in the future.

She was  known by everyone as Tita Cora, and she was the ultimate aunt. If being an aunt was an Olympic event, she would easily win the Tita gold medal, mostly judged by the number of fat, overfed nephews and nieces. Goodbye, Tita Cora, until we all meet again. Your relatives need a diet anyway.
