Donald Alvin Magrini
Jul 15, 1934 – Jan 10, 2026

Don Magrini passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026. He was born on July 15, 1934 in San Francisco to John and Rita Magrini. After attending Balboa High and San Francisco City College , he graduated from the UCSF Dental School as part of the Class of 1958. He practiced dentistry for over 40 years in both San Francisco and in Burlingame.
Throughout his life, Don had many hobbies and interests; among them were building and flying model airplanes with the Peninsula Channel Commanders. He was an avid fisherman, enjoying surf casting for striped bass, fishing in the Bay for sturgeon, trout fishing at Lake Almanor and, most enjoyable for him, fly fishing all throughout Northern California and beyond. He was a long time member of Hastings Island Hunting Preserve where he and his Dad hunted pheasant over a succession of his beloved Brittanys, each of them his favorite hunting dog. In more recent years, he had developed an interest in archery and had a standing weekly date at King’s Mountain Archers in Woodside. In addition, he was a regular crew member on the Grinnin’ Bear, competing in the Friday Night Beer Can Races and the Catalina 30 Nationals as well as just plain fun days sailing on San Francisco Bay!
Don is survived by his wife of 65 years, Susan, his children Noel Magrini Schiavo (Tony) and Alan Magrini (Joanne), his sister and brother-in-law Madeline and Marchel Nelson of Hollister, CA, and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Dave and Carol Kampert of Boulder, CO. He is also survived by nieces Debbie George of El Cajon, CA and Kathleen Rianda of Hollister, CA and nephew Alex Kampert of Boulder, CO and their families, and his current favorite Brittany, Penny.
The family is planning a Celebration of Life to be held on Sunday, March 1st, 11am at the Fairview at Crystal Springs Golf Course in Burlingame. If you would like to join us, kindly RSVP to donsue2801@sbcglobal.net.
