An act of kindness.
I was in about the sixth week of Army Basic Training, at Fort Lewis, Washington. Emilio was doing annual two weeks training for the National Guard and he took the time to find me on a Sunday afternoon, when I actually had a few hours of free time. We spent an hour catching up and just seeing a familiar face gave a tremendous lift to my morale and spirit. For a moment, I wasnt just a number in a vast army of strangers. I was very grateful that he made the effort to find me on that great big base and will never forget his act of kindness. Rest in peace Paesan.
