Gregory Camillus Currivan died peacefully in San Mateo, California on November 29, 2023 at the age of 88.

Greg is survived by daughter Stephanie Haining, Son-in-Law Ted Haining, Grandson Gregory Francis Haining, siblings, James (Theresa) of Nevada, Vincent (the late Brenda) of California, Jane Currivan (the late Jerome Day) of New Hampshire, Mary O’Brian (Terrance) of California, Paul (Julia) of Arizona, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and spouse, Rita Currivan, married 2001.

He is preceded in death by wife Mary Frances Currivan, parents Earl and Margaret, siblings Thomas and Catherine O’Boyle (Emmet).

Greg was born on November 26, 1935 in San Francisco, California to Earl J. Currivan and Margaret E. Maddock. He graduated from Riordan High School in 1954, followed by San Francisco College of Mortuary Science in 1955, and Monterey Peninsula Community College in 1963. He married Mary Frances Cummins in 1971. After serving in the Army and working for the Forest Service as a radio technician, Greg returned to San Francisco and the family business, Currivan’s Chapel of the Sunset. He worked as a manager and owner alongside his brother, James, until its closing in 1986. Greg was passionate about radios, public transit, and railroads and often indulged in extensive travel adventures. He was a kind individual who loved his family and was skilled at collecting obscure technology.

A funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday, December 7, 2023 10:00 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1310 Bayswater Ave.,Burlingame.  Visiting hours will be at the Crosby – N. Gray & Co. Funeral Home, 2 Park Road, Burlingame, on Wednesday December 6, 2023 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Rosary at 6:00PM. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Greg’s life.

The family would like to thank the Mission Hospice and Sterling Court Staff for their care and kindness to Greg at the end of his days.
