Haris Chand Jalam, age 74, passed away peacefully at his residence in San Francisco, California, on Saturday, August 24th, 2024, due to Systolic Congestive Heart Failure.
Born on May 5th, 1950, in Suva, Fiji, Haris was the beloved son of Fatima Bibi Jalam and Ram Jalam. He was one of eight siblings, and he is survived by two of them.
On March 11, 1977, Haris married the love of his life, Bebe Amna Ali, in Bronx, New York. Together, they built a life filled with love and shared passions.
As a proud San Franciscan, Haris had a deep appreciation for fine dining and cuisine. He dedicated 40 years of his life as a commis chef, contributing his talents to various restaurants throughout San Francisco. Even in his leisure time, his passion for food continued to shine as he avidly watched and studied cooking shows from around the world, with a particular fondness for “Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted.”
Beyond his culinary interests, Haris had a profound love for Bollywood music. He collected over 100 cassettes of his favorite songs, cherishing the voices of iconic artists like Amitabh Bachchan and Mohammad Rafi.
Haris is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Bebe (née Ali); his son, Davis Chand, along with his wife, Sharon, and their four children, Eddie, Ella, Elijah, and Emily; and his daughter, Farisha Jalam.
Haris’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His legacy of love, passion for food, and devotion to family will be cherished forever.
