Jane Marie Samuel

Jane Marie Samuel, 99 years young, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on March 15, 2024. A native of San Francisco, she attended Lowell High School and learned to play the stand up bass. Her love and passion for music continued throughout her life as she played in several organizations including the UC Berkeley Symphony Orchestra, Realtor Rhythm, and the Golden Gate Radio Orchestra. She always found ways to help those in need, chairing many events and volunteering to play music for Mills-Peninsula Medical Center and Broadway by the Bay. Jane was an active member of The Peninsula Golf & Country Club, where she performed in over 15 club shows. In addition to music, she was an avid bridge, poker, and domino player who loved planning events to bring her many circles of friends together. 

A long time resident of San Mateo, Jane was preceded in death by her husband Howard Samuel of 33 years. She is survived by her children, Susan Meyer and Nancy Roston, and was a beloved Nana to Lauren Monahan, Steven Roston, Lisa Meyer, Laura Roston, and Sarah Roston.

A private family memorial was held. In memory, donations may be made to Mission Hospice & Home Care or the charity of your choice.
