Lakshmi Singh

Jun 13, 1940 – Mar 9, 2025

Cypress Lawn Funeral Home

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lakshmi Singh, a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Lakshmi was born on June 13, 1940, in Tonga Rewa, Fiji, and she passed away on March 9, 2025, in San Bruno, CA, surrounded by her family.

Lakshmi was a woman of immense strength and resilience, having overcome many challenges in her life. She was a determined and ambitious individual who worked hard to provide for her family. Lakshmi was known for her generous spirit, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. She aided in the immigration of countless Fijians to Canada and the United States.

A devoted wife to her late husband, Pandit Atul Bal Singh, Lakshmi was a pillar of support and love for her family and community. She was a loving mother to her children, Bhan Singh and the late Deo Narayan Singh, and a doting grandmother to Basant Singh, Bhavna Singh, Priyashna Singh, and the late Ranjeet Atul Singh. Her grandchildren will always honor her for raising them as her own. Her maternal presence even spread to the Carranza and Suriben families.

Since her teen years, she was a dedicated caregiver. She raised countless children, aside from her own, as her own. In addition to her role as a caregiver, Lakshmi also found solace in her hobbies. She enjoyed reading the Ramayana and singing as a way to find peace and clarity. She found joy in reading, cooking, and sewing. She tried to make everything from scratch and her own creativity, from dhokla to tamales to ravioli – Lakshmi did it all.

Lakshmi will be remembered for her honesty, reliability, and empowerment. She was a woman who faced life’s challenges with grace and courage, inspiring those around her to do the same. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A ceremony to celebrate Lakshmi’s life will be held on March 14, 2025, at 9:00 AM at Cypress Lawn Funeral Home, Newell Hall. The ceremony will be officiated by Pandit Tiwari, a close family friend. Following the ceremony, a reception and reading of the Bhagvat Gita will be held at 717 5th Avenue, San Bruno, CA 94066.

May her spirit live on in the hearts of those she touched, and may her legacy inspire others to live a life filled with love, compassion, and strength. Rest in peace, dear Aji. You will always be remembered with love and gratitude.
