Lorenza Muriel Dudley Mariano

Lorenza Muriel Dudley Mariano, also known as Lori, Baby, and “Emah” by her grandchildren, was born on November 14, 1947 in Manila, Philippines to Ester De Luna Dudley and Joseph Samson Dudley. Lorenza attended Gregoria de Jesus Elementary in Manila, Philippines.

Lorenza’s partner of 11 years was Francisco M. Manabat Jr. and together they had 3 sons and 1 daughter.

Lorenza immigrated to San Francisco in 1976 and has worked as a freelance model at a photo studio on Geneva Ave, an office administrator at City College of San Francisco while taking classes there, and as a receptionist at the Saint Francis Hotel.  She retired in her 40s after receiving brain surgery.

Lorenza was kind, funny, fashionable, and very charasmatic. She enjoyed the music of ABBA which was played throughout the day in the house and enjoyed cooking Filipino food for her family.

Lorenza is survived by her sisters Marie Cyrel and Elizabeth, brothers John Sr. and Julio, sons Rolando, Arnold, and Joseph, daughter Geraldine, 4 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.

In 2010, Lorenza suffered a stroke which led to her being immobile for the remainder of her life. Despite her physical limitations, Lorenza remained spirited and full of life during her time at Burlingame Long Term Care and continued to live for another 15 years. She passed away peacefully on August 17 at the age of 77 years old.
