Nov 30, 1950 – Sep 16, 2024

Sneider & Sullivan & O'Connell's

Louis Thomas Volonte passed away peacefully in Modesto, CA surrounded by his beloved family at the age of 73. Louis, lovingly known as Lou or Uncle Louie, was born in San Francisco to Grace (McIntrye) Volonte and Paul Volonte. Louie was the youngest of three children. Growing up in San Francisco’s Mission District with his sisters Paulette (deceased) and Annette (Volonte) Calegari. Louie attended St. Anthony’s grammar school and John O’Connell Vocational High School.

Louie’s attention to detail was evident in his profession as a mechanic, where he excelled with precision and skill. Louie was truly a Jack-of-all-trades, able to fix any problems that came his way – whether in his home, his mom’s, sisters, or nieces, no challenge was too big for him to solve. Louie was a true sports fan, cheering on his favorite teams, the SF Giants and Forty Niners. One of Louie’s fondest childhood memories was meeting the legendary Say Hey Kid, Willie Mays.  The encounter left a lasting impression on him and fueled his love for the game of baseball which he shared with his sister, Annette.  A favorite memory we have of Louie is him wearing a flannel shirt, it was his signature look.

Louie’s life had many significant moments but none more special than meeting the love of his life, Sue Hunter. Their relationship was the beginning of a long and happy life together in Ceres California, where he was warmly embraced by Sue’s loving family. In addition to beloved family and friends, Louie and Sue had another love, their dear cat Ashes who was able to be by their side for many years.

Louie was preceded in death by his parents and sister Paulette and brother-in-law Jerry Calegari. He is survived by his adored partner Sue, his cherished sister Annette, nieces Anna-Marie (Steve) and Nicole (Tony), his great nephews Anthony, Aidan and Riley, numerous cousins and his extended loving family, the Hunter’s.

Louie will be remembered for his bright blue eyes, his friendly smile, and witty sense of humor that never failed to bring laughter to those around him. His kind and loving heart will be sorely missed and never forgotten. Rest in peace Louie, we love you very much.
