Lynn Jean Kelly
Jul 29, 1944 – Jun 20, 2025
Lynn Jean Kelly, born July 29, 1944 in San Francisco, died unexpectedly on June 20, 2025 in Burlingame. Lynn was predeceased by the love of her life and husband of 50 years, Patrick. She is survived by her heartbroken children Erin and Patrick and her favorite son-in-law Shawn and favorite daughter-in-law Annie. She was beloved “Mommy Pie” to Finnbar, Rowan, Calum, Patrick, Ryder and Ellena. Lynn is also survived by her treasured sister Dale and brother-in-law Ray, brother-in-law Peter, his wife Sally, sister-in-law Corrie, her husband Fred, and her sister-in-law Susan. She was Aunt Lynn to Jeff, Greg, Tim, Peter, Mary and Taryn, their spouses and children. Lynn was predeceased by her parents Bruno and Lena Dell’Artino, her brother-in-law Len, cousins, family and friends.
Lynn was a loyal alumnae of Presentation High School and Lone Mountain (San Francisco College for Women) and received her teaching degree from San Jose State University. Lynn returned to teaching after her own children were in high school and was very proud of her work as a Reading Recovery and Early Literacy teacher at Woodside Elementary School.
Lynn was devoted to her faith. A long-time parishioner of Our Lady of Angels, she was also well-known to fellow worshipers at St. Catherine’s and St. Dunstan’s. Recently, she was delighted to have been asked to serve as a Eucharistic Minister.
Lynn was best friend to many. She was planning a cruise to Japan with her oldest childhood friend; she had the same morning jogging and walking partners for over forty years; she had forever friends; knitting friends; book club friends; hockey friends; camping group friends; and bridge friends. All of her cherished people supported our mom through her life’s ups and downs and her life was fuller for it.
Her family was Lynn’s greatest joy and she treasured any opportunity to be with them. Her children’s and grandchildren’s milestones did not mean anything until they were shared with Mommy Pie and elicited her pride, laughter and tears (usually at the same time). Baseball games, birthday cakes, holidays, and hugs will never be the same without her.
Everyone who had the gift of Lynn in their life felt the embrace of her kindness, happiness, and generosity. She was our greatest cheerleader and we were her biggest fans. In honor of our Mommy Pie, we ask that you be an angel to someone as she was to us: say a prayer, meet a friend for a walk, share a smile and a hug, tell your people you love them.
Lynn’s funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 28 at 9am at Our Lady of Angels in Burlingame. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a donation to the Capuchin Franciscans.
Make a Memorial Donation in Lynn’s honor.
