Ma. Conchita Chiongson was born on June 14, 1966 in Iloilo City, Philippines. Her father, Enrique Chiongson, worked as a bookkeeper in their family’s bookkeeping office and her mother Carmen Chiongson was a homemaker.
She was a mother of two children, Mika-ela and Juan Miguel Martin. Conchita went to the United States last February 2009 to accompany his father, who was petitioned by her older sister, and to seek a better future for her two children. Her start in the US was not easy and never for the faint hearted. She endured the pain and sadness of being away from her children while they are growing up in order for her to provide their needs. It was thru the help of her sister, friends, her strong will and faith in God that made her through it all. Her son’s petition was granted last 2016, where he was able to visit Conchita and finally stayed with her in June 2020.
She started working as a caregiver, from one-on-one client, from one facility to another, with lots of double job in order for her to save enough money for her children, and to achieve her goal of having them join her in the US and will no longer be separated by distance and time. Her job was different from what she left behind in the Philippines, but eventually she became really good at if, as claimed by her co-workers, bosses, clients and their family. She always showed compassion and dedication to anything she does, which is why she is loved by them.
It was June 2021, when her kidneys really failed, that she needed to start dialysis three times a week, and all her health issues needed to be addressed. But it was also the same year, that her daughter was able to be with her after 12 long year of not seeing each other physically.
Conchita lived a simple and humble life. She lived to serve the Lord, and loved her family and friends unconditionally. She loved getting in touch with friends and family over the phone with hours of talking. She was very generous with whatever she can share. She always looked after the needs of her loved ones even before they could ask for it.
On February 21, 2024, Conchita passed away after more than two years of battling complications of diabetes and end stage renal disease. She was surrounded by her two children, sister and friends during her last days.
Conchita is survived by her children, Mika-ela and Juan Miguel Martin, her brother Ernesto, her sister Susan and husband Greg, the father of her children, Roland Montelibano and her ex-husband, Elizalde Macayan.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Augustine Catholic Church in South San Francisco on February 27, 2024 at 12 pm, her remains will be cremated thereafter. Her ashes will be taken home to the Philippines for internment at the family mausoleum as she had requested.
