Marina Maza was born in San Francisco on October 22, 1936, and peacefully passed away in Burlingame on February 28, 2025.

A devoted wife, mother, and “Noni” to her seven grandchildren, Marina was raised in the Excelsior District of San Francisco by her Italian parents, Nello and Lil Petri. She graduated from St. Peter’s High School in 1955 and began her career at Standard Oil shortly thereafter. After dedicating many years to being a stay-at-home mom, she took a seasonal job at See’s Candies, which evolved into a 25-year career at the Corporate Office in South San Francisco.

Marina was married to Fernando (Fern) Maza for 64 years, during which they raised their family in Burlingame. Together, they had three children: Steve (Stephanie), Joanne (Kevin), and Sharon (Stan). She is survived by her loving husband, Fern, and her beloved six grandsons, Joseph Gonzales (Clare), Kevin Carroll (Brianna), Marc Maza, Jeff Gonzales, Dan Carroll, Michael Maza, and her cherished granddaughter, Christina Carroll. Additionally, she is survived by her dear sister, Lola Rojas (Ray), along with numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom lovingly referred to her as Noni.

Marina was known for her generosity and dedicated several years to volunteering at the Mercy Center in Burlingame. She supported the sisters at Marian Oaks by setting up the altar for daily Mass, maintaining their library, and providing transportation for many sisters to their medical appointments.

Her family and close friends, including those she met through Mercy Center and Our Lady of Angels Church—where she and Fern were parishioners for over 55 years—were a source of great joy. Her Catholic faith was the foundation of her life, and she expressed God’s love through her actions and words. Many relied on her faithful prayers, including dedicating a rosary and novenas for their intentions. Marina will be fondly remembered for her love of holidays, birthdays, and special occasions, where she brought her family together for large meals featuring her Italian favorites. Marina’s kind heart, steadfast faith, and deep love for her family will be cherished by all who know her.

A Vigil and Rosary will take place at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at 6:30 PM. A Mass in her honor will be celebrated on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 10:00 AM, also at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church, located at 1721 Hillside Drive, Burlingame, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to Marian Oaks, 2300 Adeline Dr, Burlingame, CA 94010.
