“Remembering Myrtle”
Myrtle Mae was born on Thursday, September 4, 1941 in Beggs Oklahoma to the proud parents of John and Gertrude Darwin. She was the third sibling to her family of four children born to her dad John Darwin.
Her family relocated to Kansas City where she attended school. Following her father’s work career in 1957 the family moved and settled in San Francisco, California, where she graduated from Mission High School.
In 1959 Myrtle met the love of her life Matthew Hall SR who affectionately “called her knuckles”. They were married and started their family of which three children were born.
Having a thrive for building family and generational wealth, Myrtle started her first job at John Lee Laundry in Palo Alto, California. She then sought higher education where she took on a position with the San Francisco Police Department where she served as a records coordinator and a logistics clerk. Wanting to travel she applied and was hired by Southern Pacific Railroad where she was employed for over thirty years until her retirement. Upon her retirement from Southern Pacific Railroad, Myrtle embarked on a new journey, always putting family first she received training and a license from the State of California to open her first residential care home known as the Darwin Facility. As a strong woman of grace and dignity she has nurtured several family and friends to be self employed while having a pride in investments and home ownership. She was great at teaching others the strategies of financial stability.
Having a passion for fine clothes and jewelry she loved to model. She was always ready to participate in a photo shoot flashing her beautiful smile that would light up a room. People always admired her dress and complimented her sassy, sexy, dimple.
Loving to travel and spend time with family, Myrtle would visit family and friends far and wide, no location was too far for her to show up. Caring her children then her grandchildren and great grandchildren who later affectionately gave her the regal name of “NaNa”. Being a generous giver she always made sure she left you with a gift of love.
