Nicholas “Nick” Kelly Honor

January 1969 – June 2025

Nicholas Kelly Honor, known to those closest to him as Nick—or Kelly
in his early years—passed away peacefully at the age of 56. Nick’s
life was a courageous journey, marked by creativity, love for family,
spiritual depth, and resilience in the face of hardship.

Born in January 1969, Nick grew up in San Mateo, CA where he attended
Saint Matthews Elementary and Junipero Serra High School. He cherished
his family—especially his godparents, Pat and Judy, and his
grandparents Phil and Gert, uncle George and cousin Jerry. Nick was
happiest in nature, particularly in the redwoods and along the Smith
River in Del Norte County, where he spent time swimming, hiking, and
reflecting. Nick was also an avid skateboarder who loved practicing
tricks—pushing his limits, sharing laughs, and finding joy in every
ride.

Nick earned his B.S. in Accounting from California Polytechnic State
University, San Luis Obispo, and pursued a career in tax preparation.
During his early adult years, he also worked as a club and college DJ,
a role he loved for its energy and connection to others.

In his final years, Nick returned to school to continue his studies in
accounting and worked steadily, saving toward a future he believed in.

Nick was an avid writer and poet, a spiritual seeker, to those who
knew him best. He wrote with honesty, longing, and deep reverence for
his higher power.

Nick is survived by his mother Frances, his step dad Marc Oliden, his
siblings Alex and Elisabeth, his nephew Fernando; many loving aunts,
uncles, cousins, friends; and father, Ricardo.
