Rebecca Ward Kennedy

Dec 23, 1960 – Jan 11, 2026

Rebecca Ward Kennedy (Rebecca Dawn Ward) was born in 1960 in Louisville, Kentucky, the first of five girls born to Kenneth Ward and Mary Ward. With more than forty aunts and uncles, more cousins than she could count, and as her family moved a dozen or so times, there was never a dull moment throughout Becky’s childhood.

Spending her grade school years in California and Missouri, Rebecca attended Miller High School and Missouri Southern State College in Joplin. She majored in Math, Education and Theatre. In March of 1983, she moved to California where she spent a decade pursuing stand-up comedy among a thriving San Francisco community of likeminded comics.

Becky had always been most proud of her life-long achievement of “Contributing quality children to the world since 1992,” never sparing a moment to brag about her three boys. As a mother, she lovingly devoted herself to creating meaningful and memorable experiences that enriched her kids’ individual interests, paying close attention to nurturing the boys’ skills and talents. As a Baptist Christian, her faith had a foundational impact on her sense of family. Becky is survived by Adam, Grant and Scott, all of the Bay Area. Becky is also survived by all sisters as well as her longtime partner and close friend in comedy, Danny Dechi. She will also be missed by her cat Mr. Squeaky who now is happy living with her eldest son.

Rebecca Ward Kennedy is laid to rest at the Lilac Grove in Olivet Gardens of Cypress Lawn on January 27th, 2026.
