Memories

  • The kindest man

For 52 years, Richard was my stepfather. But to me, he was much more- a beloved Dad. Now, I already had a wonderful father, but Richard filled some huge gaps that my real father had left in my life. So, really, I was blessed with two! Richard was among the kindest people I have ever encountered or even heard of- an angel incarnate and an inspiration to our entire family. He loved our mother dearly…as she did him. Richard will be forever in our hearts and he filled the world with love his whole life through.
  • Loving Thoughts

My memories of Richard begin as a young mother when I first met the man my mother was in love with years after being divorced. A handsome man with a quick observing eye, the mark of a San Francisco police detective. Our family met at The Captains Galley Pizza and Pipes in Redwood City to eat together and enjoy the pipe organ music. My son was a year old and Richard was immediately taken with him. And so began a 52 year relationship. Richard became a grandfather to my son and to five granddaughters who came along after him. He was a good man and a role model to them all. He had a beautiful marriage to my mother for over thirty years and there was not one occasion special to any of his family that he ever missed. Richard was a man of integrity and character who modeled what it meant to be a good and caring family man. He was a spiritual person who taught us to think and act positively and never dwell on negativism. He was devoted to my mother, and she to him. They had a true love story. I feel blessed to have had him in our lives. I wont miss Richard because my memories are vibrant and I will always feel his spirit. Charlene Clecak Stepdaughter And Friend
