Rolando C. Delgadillo

Rolando Cirilo Delgadillo, 90, of Nicaragua passed away on August 8, 2024 after a long and fulfilling life. Rolando was a husband, father, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather but ultimately was known affectionately by his family as “Papito”. Papito was born on March 29, 1934 in Corinto Nicaragua son of Pilar Delgadillo and Ramon Santamaria. Papito married Concepcion Lopez and were married for 30 years and was later widowed in 1990. During that time he had 4 children, Jose Ramon, Teresa Regina, Aurora del Pilar, and Milagros Concepcion.

Papito was predeceased in life by his parents, Pilar and Ramon, his brothers, Alfonso and Heriberto. He is survived by his sisters, Estela, Selmira, and Isabel. His children, Jose Ramon (his wife Laura), Teresa Regina (her husband Jose Alberto), Aurora del Pilar (her husband Randy), and Milagros Concepcion (her husband Juan Jose). His grandchildren, Alicia Isabel, Nicolas Jose, Amanda Jean, Maria Jose, Jorge Alberto, Karena Andrea, Kristina Michele, Jader Ramon and Jessica Milagros. And great-grandchild Skylar Park.

Papito, as a young man, sailed the seven seas as a merchant sailor; this line of work took him all over the world and later retired to working on the docks of his beloved port of Corinto as a crane operator on the ships. He immigrated to San Francisco, CA to be reunited with his children where he lived the rest of his life in the San Francisco Bay Area never to go back to Nicaragua ever again.

Papito was a quiet man but quick witted and had a great sense of humor. Some of his favorite music artists were Daniel Santos, Bienvenido Grande, and Sonora Matancera. He had a sweet tooth and would never say no to ice cream. He passed down his talent, the art of drawing to some of his grandchildren. He loved exercising his mind through the years with word searches and crossword puzzles. And for the 90 years of his life he has always been of sound mind and was aware of the world and its current affairs. His generosity transcended beyond family and into his community.
