Rosalie Ann Driscoll

Aug 23, 1938 – Jan 9, 2024

Sneider & Sullivan & O'Connell's

Rosalie Ann Driscoll passed away peacefully on January 8th surrounded by her family.

Rose lived a full and vibrant life.  Born in Butte, Montana to Dan & Nell Piazzola on August 23, 1938.  She was the youngest of 3 kids. She adored her siblings Mary Carol and Dan and remained close to them and their families throughout her life.  Rose was very proud of her Montana roots and was very close to her extended family.  She loved her annual visits back to Butte or Missoula and never missed a Montana wedding!

Rose graduated from Butte High School in 1956 and met the love of her life Tim Driscoll.   They were married June 13, 1960, on Miner’s Union Day. They welcomed their first child Mark in 1961, then Linda and Corey quickly came along.  In 1964 the family of five moved to San Francisco and the following year they welcomed a son Shaun and settled in The Village neighborhood in San Mateo.  In 1970 they completed their family with the arrival of Michelle and moved to the house on 24th Avenue in 1972.

Driscoll family life centered around St. Mark’s Catholic Church and seasonal sports for 5 kids including football, baseball, and softball.  Rose loved to manage the kid’s sports teams and had a knack for coordinating the various snack bars at each field.  Rose was proud to manage the snack shack at Hillsdale High School for 13 years and when she finally retired in 1988, she was presented a humanitarian award by Joe Montana.  She really loved to brag about that!

As her children grew up and got married and had kids, Rose found her greatest joy as a grandmother.  She loved to attend school and sporting events and never missed a play or grandparents’ day.  She was a fixture at every grandchild’s school, and everyone knew her at every sports field or theater in the bay area.  Rose loved to teach the grandkids how to cook her famous family recipes and used their free labor to help her deliver her Avon orders.  The grandkids learned so many skills helping Grandma and she always took them for a nice treat when the deliveries were done.

Rose was a faithful fan of the San Francisco Giant’s and a loyal tailgater and season ticket holder for the 49ers at Candlestick Park.  She loved to travel to see her favorite teams and would go to the ends of the earth to watch her kids, grandkids and extended family in their games and tournaments.

She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years Timothy Driscoll, their 5 children, Mark Driscoll (Julie), Linda Hughes (Tony Rafello), Corey Stanley, Shaun Driscoll (Lori) & Michelle Zalba (Jose), 11 grandchildren, Meghan Driscoll (Ty Day), Mackenzie Driscoll, Shelby & Jordyn Stanley, Isabella, Jose Miguel & Danny Zalba, JT & Emily Hughes, Ryan & Ashley Driscoll and 1 great grandchild Willow Day.  Rose is also survived by her sister Mary Carol Orizotti (John deceased), sister-in-law Marlene Piazzola (Dan deceased) many nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, and friends.

Please join us to celebrate Rose’s amazing life.  Vigil Service & Celebration of Life will be held Thursday January 25th at 7:00pm at Sneider & Sullivan & O’Connell’s in San Mateo and Funeral Mass Friday January 26th 10:45am at St Gregory Catholic Church in San Mateo.
