Rose Ursula Cardenas

Jul 30, 1931 – Jul 8, 2025

Rose Ursula Cardenas, a beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025, just days shy of her 94th birthday.

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert, and two cherished sons, Robert (Rocky) and Michael. Rose is survived by her loving children: Denise, Donna, Cathy, Alec, Matthew, Roberta, Sean, Shannon, Mimi (Jimmy), and Jimmie (Jackie); 25 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her dear brothers, William Steiner (Mona) and Jimmie Steiner (Lonnie) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rose was the heart and soul of her family—a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. A proud stay-at-home mom for many years, she played an active role in her children’s lives and education, contributing her time and energy to the school communities at Sunnyside and St. Finn Barr’s. Later in life, she found joy in serving others as a waitress at Zim’s Restaurant until its closure in 1995, and then at Big Heart Video Café, where she worked until it closed in 2010.

Known for her boundless generosity and warm spirit, Rose welcomed everyone into her home with open arms. Her door was always open, and her famous Taco Nights brought family, friends, and neighbors together—creating lasting memories around her table.

Rose leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family and community. She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 30th at 12:30 PM in the Tiffany Chapel at Cypress Lawn 1370 El Camino Real Colma CA. 94014, followed by inurnment at the Garden of Light Mosaic in Cypress Lawn West Campus. The reception will be held afterward at the Laurel Pavilion.
