Santina (Tina) Muzio Kapkin passed away peacefully on November 23rd at her home in Burlingame at the age of 99. Born in San Francisco to Italian immigrants Antonio Muzio and Augusta Pietrucci, she was raised alongside her beloved brother, Claudio.

Tina married Albert Kapkin in San Francisco, and together they built a beautiful life, raising their two sons, David and Scott, in Ross, Marin County, before settling in Burlingame. She and Al shared a passion for travel, exploring the world together, with a special love for Europe.

A woman of remarkable determination and intellect, Tina was an inspiration to many. In her 50s, she boldly returned to school, earning a bachelor’s degree in English from UC Berkeley and later studied Law at Santa Clara University. Her dedication to lifelong learning was a defining trait, as was her commitment to her faith and church community.

Tina is survived by her son, Scott, as well as several nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Al; her son, David; her parents; and her brother, Claudio.

A Mass in her honor was held at St. Catherine’s Church in Burlingame on January 31, 2025.

Tina will be remembered for her fierce independence, adventurous spirit, and unwavering pursuit of knowledge. She leaves behind a legacy of resilience and inspiration for all who knew her.
