Mr. Song Pu Lim, also known as U Soe Myint, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and beloved family patriarch, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2024. Born on May 20, 1941, in Taik Gyi, Myanmar, He was the sixth of eight children and the youngest son. He graduated from the Institute of Economics, earning a Bachelor in Economics (B.Com. Accounting) in 1965, followed by a Registered Law Degree.

U Soe Myint met the love of his life, Dorothy, at university and they married in November 1968, marking the beginning of a beautiful journey together, during which they raised three remarkable daughters – Maymar, Lillian, and Tina – and welcomed six cherished grandchildren into their family.

U Soe Myint was the General Manager of the family owned Sanpya Cinema Theater in Yangon, Myanmar until it was nationalized by the government. He also owned and operated Sanpya Tea Company and ran a construction business. The family later immigrated to the United States in 1987, and he worked at the City and County of San Francisco in accounting until his retirement in 2005.

U Soe Myint was a devoted Buddhist, embodying compassion, kindness, and humility in all aspects of life. He instilled resilience and independence in his daughters, ensuring they were well-prepared to navigate the world. He deeply cherished his family, always by his wife’s side on family trips and embracing the joy of togetherness. The weekly Saturday family gatherings held a special place in his heart, and he looked forward to them, and shared in the love that surrounded him. He was a devoted fan of the San Francisco 49ers and Golden State Warriors. He never missed a game, celebrating every touchdown and victory with enthusiasm and sharing his joy through lively group texts with his family.

May the memories of Mr. Song Pu Lim/ U Soe Myint’s love and kindness comfort his wife, daughters, and all who knew him in this time of loss.  And may his legacy inspire us to live with greater compassion and appreciation for the simple joys that life brings.
