On December 1, 2024, Yoshiko Umino passed away at the age of 99. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by her extended family.

She was a second generation Japanese-American, born in Pescadero, California. She lived her later childhood in San Francisco, California, She lived independently until it was no longer safe to live alone. She moved to San Jose to live with her daughter, Florence, until her passing.

She is predeceased by her parents, Kichizo and Kane Umino. She is survived by her daughters, Florence Garrett and Audrey Thomas. Her son-in-law, Don Thomas. Her 6 grandchildren, April, Emmric and his wife Teresa, Aubrey and her husband Leroy, Brandon and his wife Veronica,, Nathen and his wife Brittany, and Andrew. Her 8 great grandchildren, Alana, Leroy, Ajanae, Aiko, Emmric, Amai, Eisley and Ezrah. And 2 great great granddaughers, Akiko and Ava.

Family was always a very important part of her life. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her in support, wisdom, and love. She enjoyed family gatherings, (especially during the holiday season), traveling often back to Japan to visit relatives and going to the casino.

    I knew yoshiko 1969-?… while she didnt recognize me; I am former son in law…. other than my marrying her daughter; we got along fine…she was good person ( drove me home from work 1969-71)! Michael Hovan
