Grief Support Group

Talk to anyone who has lost a loved one, and it’s likely they would tell you about the many emotions involved, some quite unexpected. Part of our role when helping Bay Area families plan funerals, receptions, and burials is providing emotional support, knowing that the days following a death can be challenging.

One of the ways we do so is through our free facilitated grief support group, which meets the first and third Tuesday of every month from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. here at Cypress Lawn.

Join us on the following dates:

September 3rd and 17th

October 1st and 15th

November 5th and 19th

December 3rd and 17th

The group’s facilitator, Jeremy E. Damec, earned a Masters in Counseling Psychology from the University of San Francisco and completed the Sojourn Chaplaincy program at San Francisco General Hospital. Jeremy has had a very personal walk with grief, as he lost his mother to cancer in 2009. He understands that grief is a very personal journey and that grief can teach us to love deeply, live fully, and embrace all that is before us.

At Cypress Lawn, our staff wants you to remember that no one has to walk through grief alone. Our community is here for you, whether you’ve recently lost a loved one or are struggling in the months and years after a death.

We realize the toughest part of joining a grief group may be taking the first step. If you’re going through a difficult time, please remember to take care of yourself. While family and friends provide support all their own, they may not fully understand what you’re going through unless they too have experienced a close personal loss. Our support group can become a valuable resource, giving you a safe environment to share thoughts and emotions with those in a similar situation.

Please consider joining us. Call 650-550-8808 to let us know you will be attending, so that we may better serve you.
