At Cypress Lawn, our staff members love welcoming families from the Bay Area and beyond to our Memorial Park to view our beautiful grounds. We host regular, docent-led trolley tours to allow visitors to experience all three of our campuses. Taking a trolley tour provides visitors with lots of interesting information about our history, services, and facilities. Our trolley tours are completely free so that everyone in our community can connect with Cypress Lawn and its fascinating past.

Before the Trolley Tour

Our trolley tours take place at 11 a.m. on the second Saturday of each month from January through November. Prior to our regular monthly trolley tours, we hosted walking tours so visitors could see our stained-glass windows, historic architecture, and beautifully maintained grounds up close. However, health conditions and pesky San Francisco weather led to frequent delays and rescheduled tours. In 2018, we introduced our trolley tours so visitors could see all three campuses, no matter the weather!

During the Trolley Tour

We consider our Memorial Park’s history integral to that of the Bay Area. Each of our tours is different, many of them focusing on specific topics or periods of California history. We can even customize our tours to fit your group or organization’s particular needs or interests. Our climate-controlled trolleys guarantee comfort throughout each one-hour tour of our extensive grounds.

After the Trolley Tour

At the end of the trolley tour, each guest receives a copy of Pillars of the Past so they can continue to learn about Cypress Lawn and its history. You’ll also be entered into a raffle to win a $50 gift card.

We also encourage groups of 8 to 24 people to make a reservation for a group tour, which can even be tailored to the specific interests of your group or organization. Along with the free historical tour, Cypress Lawn will donate $20 per person who attends the tour to the nonprofit of your choice.
