"Dear Amelia M. Barquez, In April this year, I met you at the office where you work. At that time I asked you “I want to look at the crematory where my daughter was cremated seven years ago.” Despite our sudden request you readily guided us to the facilities. My daughter was a student at the state university and loved San Francisco very much. I came quickly from Japan alone hearing the sudden news of my daughter’s death. I was going to go to the crematory with my daughter after the funeral at the ceremony hall. However, I didn’t go because the staff of the ceremony hall said I should not go. They said they had seen the woman who came from Japan alone and became crazy. Her husband was killed. For a long time, I had regretted the fact that I made my daughter go alone. And I was thinking that I have to go to the crematory someday. Because in Japan it’s common for family members and relatives to go to the crematory and then pick up ashes. I imagined the crematory to be a facility like a huge waste treatment center. However I had been ready to see anything. I was very surprised because there was a small, lovely church in the place that you had guided. There were a lot of waterfalls in the beautiful pond near the wide lawn. I thought that my daughter accepted this place. I was sure that you treated my daughter tenderly. I never forget your kindness. Thank you very much."

"Dear Mr. Varner, Now that activities connected with the death of my sister have diminished somewhat, I want to take the opportunity to thank you and your wonderful Cypress Lawn staff for the thoughtful and compassionate arrangements performed for her. Both the funeral and burial services were carefully executed with impeccable timing and performance. Amelia Barquez, Sandy Guest and Philip Johnson were outstanding in their areas of responsibility. I can only hope that future arrangements for other family members would be performed as well as the experience I encountered for Gloria.
